Woodside - Gas Production Facilities

Project execution period

2017 – 2022 with extension options

Project description

The Woodside-operated North West Shelf (NWS) Project is one of Australia’s largest oil and gas developments. Accounting for approximately one third of Australia’s oil and gas production, the NWS Project is a joint venture between six major international companies. It is one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producers, supplying oil and gas to Australian and international markets from huge offshore gas, oil and condensate fields in the Carnarvon Basin off the north-west coast of Australia. The North West Shelf Project facilities include the onshore Karratha Gas Plant and offshore production facilities including the North Rankin Complex, Goodwyn Alpha and Angel platforms.

The Woodside-operated Pluto LNG Plant processes gas from the offshore Pluto and Xena fields in the Carnarvon Basin in Western Australia. The plant sits within the wider Pluto LNG Park, which has a total leasearea of 200 hectares. Onshore infrastructure comprises a single processing train with 4.9 Mtpa LNG capacity (100% Project). The Pluto A platform is a not-normally manned platform located 180km north-west of Karratha in 85 metres of water. Gas is piped through a trunkline to the onshore facility. Pluto LNG is a joint venture between Woodside (Operator and (90%) Kansai Electric (5%) and Tokyo Gas (5%).
