During the month of June, it became a common occurrence for staff participating in the Push-Up challenge to hit the deck before coming to work and complete their daily quota of push-ups.
Funds raised during the challenge were for Lifeline WA, Headspace and the Push For Better Foundation with a primary focus on mental health and suicide prevention.
Each day represented a different theme and corresponding number of push-ups due to be completed. For example, on day 5 teams were challenged to complete 120 push-ups, representing the 120 calls per hour Lifeline receive.
Everyone involved in the challenge had to complete 3,318 push ups over 25 days.
“I wanted to help push for better mental health. Participating in this challenge helped raise awareness and funds for this valuable cause as well as creating conversations amongst colleagues and friends on this topic.” said Lorna Rechichi, General Manager Heavy Lift.
“The daily reminder of how many of us, our friends, family and colleagues struggle with mental health was so important. Sometimes a conversation or a simple act of kindness can make the world of difference to someone.” Elli Brashaw, Health & Rehabilitation Coordinator
