As part of the MD Safety Innovation award process, the winners are given the opportunity to nominate a charity to receive the award donation.
The EC HSE members of this year's co-winner, 'Tinny Time', chose Starick to receive the donation, as the team believed that Starick's vision aligns with the framework that underpins the 'Tinny Time' innovation.
Starick is a charity supporting women and children escaping domestic and family violence who work predominantly in Perth's south-eastern metropolitan region. Starick's vision is to build futures free from violence for the women and children who use the service, and for the community as a whole.
Josh Barharthah (HSE Coordinator - EC Divisional Management) and Josh Reid (EC HSE Manager - EC Divisional Management) presented the donation to Leanne Barron (CEO) and Jo Malone (Development Manager) from Starick.
Starick CEO Leanne Barron thanked staff for their donation, advising that Starick uses financial donations to value-add to the core services we provide through government funding, to ensure we are able to meet the range of needs of our clients.
"The Monadelphous donation will be directed towards much needed therapeutic toys and resources for children accessing our children's counselling service, to assist them to heal from the effects of violence. It will also enable us to provide very practical emergency supports such as clothing, food and medicines for families who flee violence and arrive at our service with only the clothes they are wearing."
