Giving back to local communities runs deep in the veins of our Gladstone team, so when they were approached to commit funds to local charities, measured against their safety performance on the major maintenance works undertaken in June/July, they didn’t hesitate to sign up.
Goal Zero for Gladstone was coordinated by Shell’s QGC business who, together with their joint venture partners CNOOC and Tokyo Gas and major contractors, including Monadelphous, funded the safety initiative. Goal Zero for Gladstone challenged all the teams working on the Turnaround to work collectively towards achieving their KPI’s, with the incentive to raise valuable funds for six local charities throughout the Gladstone region.
Monadelphous Manager, Midstream – Adrian De Daunton led the Monadelphous team assigned to this shutdown, explaining our contribution to the safety initiative.
“We were confident in our ability to perform our part in the shutdown safely, so we put forward a donation of $250 per day where all of our safety targets were met. Overall, the initiative accumulated an impressive $31,700 towards the six recipient charity groups.”
The Monadelphous portions of the funds raised was allocated to local Gladstone charities being $5000 to Gladstone Women’s Health Centre and $1750 to Young People Making a Difference (MAD).
Area Manager, David Slack-Smith was proud to share what the team has achieved.
“Completing our job safely will always be a key focus of ours. To have the added incentive of raising funds for these charities in our local area is an excellent boost for our team and makes project completion an even greater reason to celebrate,” he said.
Congratulations to team from Shell QGC’s Train 2 Turnaround for this outstanding achievement in both safety and giving back to our community.
