I’ve been fortunate in my time with Monadelphous to be put into a leadership role within my first two years here. The change from leading hand into a Supervisor role was a welcome challenge. It has presented me with opportunities to work on larger scale projects with different trades. What has made my experience working here different to most is having my Dad work right alongside me.
Dad finished working in Darwin on Ichthys, he joined me at Monadelphous, and we have been working together since. It’s quite a unique situation to work alongside your Dad daily. It took a while to get used to, but it’s certainly nice having a family member around when you work away. I know Mum likes that we are together, it means we can watch out for each other.
I’m constantly learning new things, and there was certainly an adjustment period when I moved into my supervising role – be it the diverse scopes of work I’ve been exposed to, or my increased involvement in some of our larger projects. However, with the support I have around me on site, especially with my Dad being there for me, I’m more motivated and confident than ever to ensure the work we put out is completed to a high standard.
